I’m Hanna True.
I love making art to glorify and enjoy God.
I avoided artistic things for many years, because I wanted guaranteed "good" results that would impress other people.
Thankfully, God used a beginner's pottery class to show me that my avoidance of art was rooted in glorifying myself instead of glorifying Him.
For me, art serves as a tangible, daily reminder of the freedom I have as a Christian by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
I’m no longer a slave to the yucky talk in my head that says, “Strive for perfection and seek your own glory by creating a masterpiece… and if you can’t do that, then don’t bother!”
Instead, I’m free to make art as a reflection of God’s creativity and for His glory alone. What a gift.
In 2 Corinthians 12:9, we read that God’s power is made perfect in weakness. Making art reminds me of that Truth every day.
My paintings and pottery are about learning to create from a place of humility, trust, and reliance on the Lord.

I’m a beginner, documenting the beginning.
I'm a hobby artist currently learning the foundations of painting and pottery through books, online instruction, and workshops from my home studio.
Artists like Peggi Kroll Roberts, Sandi Hester, and Mia from Pottery to the People are a few of my sources of inspiration and instruction.
I’ve often wished that I could go back and see their earliest work, approach to learning, and struggles with being a beginner. That's what inspired me to start documenting my journey now.
